This New York Yankees Organization
Manual is compiled for the information
and guidance of the scouting staff, and
other personal in the New York
organization. The manual was updated
and supplemented from time to time with
additional directives which were
inserted in the document binder for
future reference. Capter 2 describes
responsibilities and objectives for
"Bird Dog" scouts. A part-time scout
who works for an area scout, providing
tips on players and reducing the number
of trips an area scout must make. Bird
Dogs are usually given a commission if
one of their discoveries is signed, but
are otherwise unpaid.
Following page 6, the manual provides a
"Bird Dog" contract (Agreement). Free
Agent Report, Free Agent Prospect
Summary, Yankees Club Report Form, and
a three page Yankees Prospect Report
Form, all with instructions in between.
Chapter 3, covers the Rule 4 (Free
agent Draft), followed by chapters 4-7,
College, Junior College, High School,
and American Legion Rules. Chapter 8,
pages 36-49, "Signing Players" features
a National association of Professional
Players Baseball League Uniform Player
Contract.
The yellow 6 page, tri-fold contract, to be signed on the last page, also
has a space for consent of parent or
guardian, for a player under legal age.
There is a "Contract Checklist" on page
48, and Supply List at the end. Other
