A song written in 1908 by Jack
Norworth and Albert Von Tilzer, "Take
Me out to the Ball Game" became the
official anthem of baseball. It is the
third-most frequently heard song in
America, behind the national anthem and
Happy Birthday. Norworth who had never
been to a ball game, wrote the lyrics
when he passed the Polo Grounds on an
elevated train and saw a sign that read
“Baseball Today.”
In 1984 Schaum Publications, Inc. published "Take Me Out To The Ball Game"
educational piano Sheet Music. Founded
in 1959 by John W. Schaum the company
publishes quality piano materials
integrating music appreciation, theory,
sight reading and technique into a
comprehensive education for tomorrow's
musicians.
The cover of the sheet music depicts an artistic rendition of a Babe Ruth
photograph, taken in 1918, when he
played for the Boston Red Sox. The back
has a list of Schuam Sheet Music, and
has a "Distributed by Hal Leonard,"
UPC sticker. In 2016, Hal Leonard
Corp., acquired Schaum Publications.
