M. Denkert & Co. a manufacture of
leather sporting goods was founded by
Mitchell Denkert in 1900. The M.
Denkert & Co. was the main supplier of
dozens of private labeled brands in
addition to the Denkert Brand of
baseball gloves. Private labels
include: Tru-Sport, Gambles-Hiawath, Olympian,
Yale, Geo Worthington Co, Johnny
Walker, The Drier Co, Marathon
(Montgomery Ward), Olympic, R.H. Macy
Co., JC Higgins (sears) and many
others. M. Denkert & Co. closed its
business in 1973.
During the 1940s Denkert included
"The Finer Points of Baseball" booklet,
inside each box of Denkert baseball
gloves. Denkert also did the same for
privately branded baseball gloves they
produced for other companies such as:
Davega; Wasco; Em-Jay;
Monarch; and
Olympic. Signature model baseball glove
endorsements included: Pee
Wee Reese; Frank Hayes; Eddie Morgan,
Charlie Keller; and
as advertised Joe Medwick; Gus Suhr.
