NOTES:

On June 6, 2025, the 81st anniversary of D-Day the New York Yankees hosted a game at Yankee Stadium to honor this event. Sponsored by State Farm, a Yogi Berra U.S. Navy Bobblehead was distributed exclusive to the first 18,000 fans. A salute to Yogi's service in the U.S. Navy during World War II, including his participation in D-Day.

Yogi Berra was a significant participant in the D-Day invasion. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1943, putting his baseball career on hold to serve his country. As a gunner's mate on the attack transport USS Bayfield, he was part of a six-man crew on a Navy rocket boat that provided crucial fire support during the Normandy landings. He fired machine guns and launched rockets at German defenses on Omaha Beach, and according to an interview, also at Utah Beach.

Berra spent 12 days manning the rocket boat, protecting Allied troops and shooting down enemy aircraft. He was wounded in the hand by enemy fire during the invasion and was later awarded the Purple Heart, although he initially refused it to avoid worrying his mother.

The Bobblehead depicts Yogi Berra in his Navy Unfiorm standing on a New York Yankee pinstripe base with an interlocking NY logo.
