The
1969 World Series featured the New York
Mets and the Baltimore Orioles, with
the Mets winning five games to one in
the best of seven series. This is a full ticket from game 5 of
the 1969 World Series, played at Shea
Stadium, when the Amazin' Mets
clinched the World Series Championship,
from the heavily favorite Baltimore
Orioles. This was the "Miracle Mets"
first National League pennant, and
first of two World Series
championships, in franchise history. It
was also the first World Series of
Major League Baseball's Divisional Era.
The new Post Season format was created by dividing the 12 teams in each
league into two divisions of six. The
winners of the East and West divisions
in each league would then compete
against each other in a best-of five
League Championship Series, to
determine the pennant winners that
would face each other in the World
Series. The Mets faced-off and beat
the Atlanta Braves in the National
League Championship Series, the Orioles
beat the Minnesota Twins in the ALCS.
The 1969 World Series tickets were the
first to depict the Official MLB 100th
Anniversary of baseball logo which was
unveiled earlier that year. A full
ticket from a game played at Baltimore
Orioles Memorial Stadium has an
estimated value of about $100. -$200.,
and a stub about $40.-$50.
