1990 VHS format release of the movie
"Safe At Home," a 1962 Columbia
Pictures release starring; Mickey
Mantle, Roger Maris, William Frawley,
Patricia Barry, and Don Collier. The
movie also feature cameos by Yankees
Mgr. Ralph Houk, Whitey Ford and
others. Mickey Mantle's young son David
plays one of the Little Leaguers who
winds up meeting the baseball legends.
(David Mantle's movie credits also
include the voice over for Mickey
Mantle in the 2014 animated movie
"Henry & Me")
The full length 8MM home movie, issued back in 1962 was a silent edition of the black & white
film, "Safe At Home." It came
in two sizes, with one box measuring
3.25" x 3.25" and the other 5.25 x
5.25". The renewed 1990
full-length film with sound was
released in the VHS format, with a
water color picture of Mantle & Maris
speaking with William Frawley. In 1996 the
VHS movie was released again with a
different box which shows an image of
Maris, Mantle and Russell gripping a
baseball bat. At the bottom of the
photo were the words “Get Ready for
Grand Slam Fun!”
