Sports Talk features a 164 "talking
baseball card" set produced by toy
maker LJN under license from Topps.
Measuring 3.25" x 5.25" the cards made
in the style of 1989 Topps baseball
cards, have a plastic coating with a
small phonograph record on the back.
When inserted into the special Sports
Talk player, it plays a brief interview
with a player. Don Drysdale interviewed
the players of the National League for
their cards and Joe Torre did the same
for the American League players.
The "talking" baseball card set
includes: 8 Greatest Games, 33
Superstars, 122 Current
Players/Managers. The box has a
checklist on the back, and the contents
includes the Sports Talk player, 3
player cards; Don Mattingly, Orel
Hershiser, Hank Aaron, and an
Introductory Checklist Card. Additional
cards were made available in packs of 4
cards. Talking Cards feature photos,
statistic, trivia, and tips from the
pros.
Notable players featured in the set
include: George Bell, Wade Boggs, Andre
Dawson, and Mark McGwire. The set also
includes cards of legendary players
like
Lou Gehrig, Babe Ruth, Stan
Musial, Pete Rose, Roberto Clemente,
and Carl Yastrzemski.
