The 1968 Milton Bradley Topps
"Win-A-Card" game, came with
1968 Topps baseball, Football, and Hot
Rod trading cards. The cards were
placed in a small cardboard tray with
four recesses, each capable of holding
about 30 cards. It is
unclear how many cards actually came
with the game, but the box reads
"Contains a generous supply." Actual
numbers reported range from 50-70
baseball cards, and various amount of
the football, and hot rod trading cards,
totaling to about 86-105 cards.
The 1968 Topps cards that were included
with the game are of a different
variation to the regular issued Topps
cards. The back of the Topps Milton
Bradley issued cards are a bright
yellow, as opposed to the golden
backs of the Topps regular issue. Some
baseball cards that bordered the
football cards, and were missed-cut,
can be found with a white border at either the
top or bottom. The games were still
available on the shelves of toy stores
for all of 1969, and into the 1970's.
Win-A-Card is a novelty combination card and board game. It is played with
baseball, football, and hot rod car
trading cards included with the game;
or with similar sized cards purchased
with gum at the corner store. A large
spinner plays an important part in the
game, and it's anyone's guess whether
it will stop on heads or tails, or even
on a pot. The object of the game is to
be the player to win the most trading
cards in five rounds of play.
