Adirondack - Rawlings Baseball Bat Dating Guide
ADIRONDACK BAT DATING GUIDE
Adirondack - Rawlings Co. has used different center brands in their history. The Logo samples pictured below are dated to the years they appear in the Adirondack catalogs. By matching the samples with the logo on your bat you could approximately date to that era. Variations in branding and model numbers could narrow down the years, and will be added to the description soon.

Sample   Manufacturing Period
Description

1946-1950 Adirondack Baseball Bat label
1946-1950 Bat Manufacturing Period
The words "McLAUGHLIN-MILLARD, INC. DOLGEVILLE NEW YORK" form a diamond-shaped center label. "ADIRONDACK" is centered inside the diamond, with "NORTHERN" above it and "WHITE ASH" below it. "NO. appears under "DOLGEVILLE" with the model number appearing under "NEW YORK."

The words "Flexible Whip Action" appear right of the center label.
There are two versions of barrel labeling. The first has "PERSONAL" above the player's name and "MODEL" below it. The other version has no words above or below the player's block-letter name.

1951 -1957 Adirondack Baseball Bat Label
1951-1957 Bat Manufacturing Period
REG.U.S.PAT.OFF. over MCLAUGHLIN-MILLARD, MADE IN U.S.A. UNDER DOLGEVILLE-NEW YORK, Flexible Whip Action to the right of center label, ADIRONDACK (MUCH THINNER LETTERS THAN 1946-1950)model # moved into center labeling.
Among the center label changes was a narrower font. "Northern White Ash" appears in script entirely above "ADIRONDACK" while the model number (302) appears below it.
There were several barrel variations during this era. It could say "PERSONAL" above the player's name and "MODEL" below, as before. Or, it could have nothing above the name and "LIGNINIZED" below. Or, it could say, "PERSONAL MODEL" above the name and "LIGNINIZED" below. Finally, it could say, "ADIRONDACK" above the player's name and "PERSONAL MODEL" below.

1958-1960 Adirondack Baseball Bat Label
1958-1968 Bat Manufacturing Period
Same as 1951-1957 but with triangle type lines put above label & smaller lines below label.
"McLAUGHLIN-MILLARD, INC." was replaced with, "ADIRONDACK BATS, INC." The "REG. U. S. PAT. OFF." disappeared from above the center brand, and lines were added to enhance the "diamond" effect.
To the right of the center label, the "Flexible" in "Flexible Whip Action" was dropped in 1960. There were two barrel variations. The first had, "ADIRONDACK" above the player's name and "PERSONAL MODEL" below it.
The second replaced "PERSONAL MODEL" with "FLAME TREATED," which was framed in a jagged box intended to suggest flames.

1968-1973 Bat Manufacturing Period
The only change to the center label is that the block-letter "ADIRONDACK" is now is written in script with only the "A" capitalized. 1961-1963 lettering in white, flexible omitted from label only whip action remains, also, the only barrel variations are the carry-overs from 1958-60.
1964-1967 same as 1961-1963 except black lettering.

Early in 1971, A-T-O who owned Rawlings since 1969, acquired Adirondack Industries.
