NOTES:

Glendale National Bank was started in 1957 by a group led by John M. Lawson, whose sister, Edna, was married to the legendary manager of the New York Yankees and later the New York Mets, Casey Stengel. Lawson was the bank’s first chairman and Stengel was an honorary vice president. Casey a major stockholder didn't collect a salary, just a $25. fee for attending board meetings. Among the shareholders were: Randy More, former outfielder for Casey at Brooklyn, White Sox Manager Al Lopez, and Yankee co-owner Del Webb.

On December 16, 1957 the Glendale National Bank had a gala preview for shareholders, public officials, and guests, at it's new 434 North Bend Blvd. Location in Glendale. The following day, Tuesday, December 17, Glendale National Bank held an open house, with door prizes and refreshments. This baseball coin bank was a gift given to shareholders and gusts that attended the opening celebrations

The baseball features; a facsimile Casey Stengel signature in blue, on a red stitched plastic baseball, with the inscription "Good Luck ! Join my Banking Team" The black base reads "Glendale, National Bank, 434 North Brand, Glendale, Cali." to the right of the banks trademark logo, on the front and back. Under the base features the coin slot that reads "Kosta Dana-Barrell Inc., located at 30 Broad Street, New York, 4, NY."

On April 1, 1960 The bank opened a new branch at 4404 Riverside Drive, in Tolula Lake, under the Name Valley National Bank, and the corporate title of the Glendale bank was formally changed.
