The
"Casey Picks 'em for '63" Flexi-disc
was recorded exclusively for
representatives of the Aetna Life
Insurance Company and Aetna Casualty
and Surety company. At the time of the
recording, the "winningest manager in
the history of baseball," Casey
Stengel, was the manager of the New
York Mets. Interviewed by special
events director Keith Morris of Sports
Illustrated, the Old Professor, in
rapid-fire Stengelese, predicts the
1963 finish of the ten teams in the
National League, and gives inside
secrets to his new favorite team, the
New York Mets.
The
free "collectors item" was made
available through magazine and
newspaper coupon order forms, or could
be picked up at a local Aetna insurance
agency. The 7 inch, 33⅓ RPM flexi-disc
is inside a bi-fold promotion sleeve.
The back cover features instructions on
how to play the flexi-disc record, by folding
the front flap under the back, before
placing on the turntable. The front
cover pictures Casey Stengel wearing an
Aetna baseball cap, looking into a
baseball as it were a crystal ball. The
inside front flap has three pictures of
Casey in his New York Mets uniform.
