The Hillerich & Bradsby Co.
manufactured the "Slugger II" trademark
center brand baseball bats, for
Cambridge Sporting Goods. Established
in 1943 Cambridge Sporting Goods Corp.
was a sporting Goods wholesale
distributor located in North Bergen NJ.
They carried a full line of sporting
goods made by the major manufactures
but also carried a Cambridge line of
sporting goods that were manufactured
and privately branded for them by other
companies.
The Cambridge line of baseball bats were made by the Hillerich & Bradsby Company.
Cambridge was a distributor of
Louisville Slugger baseball bats which
included the "Slugger II." Most were
distributed to small sporting goods, and discount stores. The
Slugger II bats were listed in the 1974
Cambridge catalog as no. 1658- Slugger
"2" AS6 - Louisville Slugger, a
supplement to the 125 models. No. 1656-
Slugger "2" FL AS8- Louisville Slugger
Fame Tempered.
Slugger II

Frank Howard, Roberto Clemente, Jackie
Robinson, Bobby Bonds, and the
Mc44, a bat designed by Jack McGrath
who was a long time Vice President of
marketing & public relations for
Louisville Slugger. There is also a
Slugger II "Cupped Balanced" model.
