NOTES:

The Authentic Mickey Mantle Hit-O-Matic baseball bat was produced by Emerald Pacific Enterprises Inc. in Eugene, Oregon, sometime around 1965-1969. The 100 - F2 model featured a "Firm Grip" baseball bat wrapping patented by the inventor Raymond J Tanguay, assignee to Emerald Pacific Enterprises Inc. The object was to provide a wrapping for a baseball bat which greatly reduces breakage but does not appreciably reduce the whip action of the bat; and provided a firm grip along with sufficient cushioning to prevent sting to the user.

The multiple stage creation of the combined grips and reinforcing wrappings for the baseball bats; involved applications of neoprene synthetic rubber, preasure sensitive tapes, a thick layer of latex, cork, and walnut shell grit applied to the tapes. In 1960 Tanguay developed a plastic practice bat though his company "Bat-O-Matic." A clear plastic with a red metal "broomstick" center. A red light would show when ever a level swing is not achieved. When the bat is swung correctly the light in the plastic unit shows green. Sixty-six experimental bats were produced to match weight and lengths used by players in regulation games, but there is no evidence that the bat hit the market.

The Mickey Mantle F2, Hit-O-Matic baseball bat was produced in limited numbers. The center brand to the left of "Firm Grip" reads; "Hit-O-Matic" at the top and "Eugene Oregon" at the bottom forming an oval, with 100 to the left, and F2, on the right. Inside the oval reads; "Made In U.S.A. Patent Pending" above a line, with "Emerald Pacific Enterprises Inc." below. The barrel stamping reads; "Authentic, Mickey Mantle, Hit-O-Matic" A Harmon Killebrew L5 Hit-O-Matic baseball bat was also produced.
