The No 100 Professional line of
baseball bats were introduced by
Rawlings in 1927. "By special
arrangement with the manufacture of the
well-known Louisville Slugger line"
Rawlings offered 14 models, No. 101 to
114, "finished in the popular golden
oil tempered finish." Each bat marked
with a number on the barrel that
indicates the type of bat used by the
player. (listed below) Each bat an
"authentic reproduction in shape and
balance of the bat used by the player."
Three of the models, Nos. 107, 110, and
111 had
taped handles.
In 1933 Rawlings offered the No. 100 Professional Player Model bats with
the "Duroized" treatment to minimize chipping and peeling,
increasing the life of the bat.
Louisville Slugger introduced the "Powerized"
bats around the same time. By 1935
Rawlings introduced additional player
models numbered up to 131. Additional
players models included; No. 116 Lou
Gehrig, No. 122 Jimmy Foxx, No. 124 Joe
Cronin, No. 128 Pepper Martin, and No.
131 Joe Medwick.
In 1938, the Rawlings No. 100 Professional Player Model bats featured the
Player's block letter names branded to
the barrels. The nine models included;
Babe Ruth, Rogers Hornsby, Lou Gehrig,
Jimmy Foxx, Bill Terry, Hank Greensberg,
Mel Ott, Joe DiMaggio, and Bill Herman.
