Around 1926 the Wilson-Western Sporting Goods company, introduce twelve
baseball bat models similar in design,
weight and balance to the bats used by
twelve of the most famous major league
batsmen. The twelve models featured the
famous players initials on the barrel,
at the bottom of a circle, with Wilson
at the top, and "HOLD THIS SIDE UP"
across the center. The twelve players
include: BR-Babe Ruth, EC-Eddie
Collins, FF-Frank Frisch, RH-Rogers
Hornsby, KW-Ken Williams, HH-Harry
Heilmann, JD-Jake Daubert, CW-Cy
Williams, ER-Eddie Rouch, TC-Ty Cobb,
CK-George Kelly, and TS-Tris Speaker.
These twelve famous player models were all guaranteed against breakage,
and if any bat broke during play, the
bat was to be replaced by Wilson
without charge. The same twelve player
initial bats were also made available,
with the "Thos.
E. Wilson, Guaranteed, Famous Player
Models" center brand. The Value of each
player 'Initial endorsed' bat will vary based on about 50%
the value of the player's signature
model. Percentage will vary more or
less on player demand.
