The Tresler Comet, Hillerich &
Bradsby Co. Louisville Slugger 'TC'
baseball bats, were offered as a premium, part of a
promotion for the Tresler Oil
Company, of Cincinnati OH. The bat had
a suggested retail price of $2.50 but
with 8 gallons of gas, the bat cost .99
cents. The ad states "Major league sizes and
weights" but no mention of the Little
League bats. Opening in 1922,
the Tresler Oil Company was one of the
first gas stations in Cincinnati. The
company was bought out by the Ashland
Oil Co., Kentucky's largest
corporation, in 1983.
The Tresler Comet Co. baseball bat promotion also included block letter
endorsements from: Mickey Mantle,
Roger Maris, Hank Aaron, Joe Torre, Rocky Colavito, and Pete
Rose. Approved Little league bats; all
Cincinnati Reds: Lee May, Johnny Bench,
Frank Robinson, Pete Rose, and Bob
Skinner.
