NOTES:

Jimmy Piersall's Little Pro Bat-A-Round baseball training kit was manufactured by the First American Corporation in 1960, and hit the shelves in 1961. The kit which was exclusively sold at Newberry's five-and-dime store also included a 4x5 "autographed picture" of Jimmy Piersall with a Newberry ad on the back. Also enclosed was an 8x10 "autographed picture" of Roger Maris. The photo pictures Roger Maris using the Little Pro mounted on a two-by-four.

The Little Pro device was a 14 inch long, indestructible plastic baseball spinner, and was also sold with a metal stand which is featured in the 4x5 picture with Jimmy Piersall. A third kit was sold just with the Little Pro device by itself. The batting device was designed to help Little Leaguers develop a smooth well-coordinated swing, teach the strike-zone, or switch hitting skills. Based on the same principle of the batting tee used by Branch Rickey for training major League teams, Little Pro, takes the place of pitcher, catcher, and fielder. It enables little leaguers to practice alone or have fun with teammates.
