Manny's Baseball land since 1949,
operated a souvenir and sporting goods
shop, opposite of Yankee Stadium.
Located at 838 River Avenue in the
Bronx, Manny's moved to Cliffside Park
NJ in 1978, and expanding operations to
Hackensack NJ as the leagues started
licensing sports products. In 1981
Manny s began the 1-800-Pro-Team
business, selling MLB, NFL, NBA, and
NHL souvenirs and officially licensed
fan apparel. Manny s moved to Hobe
Sound Florida in 1990 prior to their
final location in Palm City, Florida
when it was sold in 1996.
In 1961, Manny's Baseball Land issued
picture sets of 10, for all 18 Major
League teams. (180 pictures) The white
bordered 8x10 printed black-and-white
photos were
printed on semi-gloss paper, portraits
or posed action shots, with the players name
all in caps at the
bottom. In 1965, Manny's issued
additional pictures that measure 9x11.
The larger pictures featured new
players, and some like Mickey Mantle,
with a different pose.
Each set of 10 cost .75¢ at Manny's souvenir Shop across from the Stadium.
The mail order pictures were $1.00
postage paid. Two sets for $1.50, three
for $2.00, and all 18 teams, $10.00. The pictures were also
sold individually by mail for .25¢ each
with a minimum order of 4 for $1.00
postage paid. All-Star Old Timers were
also available, which included. Ty
Cobb, Babe Ruth, Dizzy Dean, Hank
Greenberg, and others.
