From 1965 to the early
1970s, Mickey Mantle served as the
official spokesman for Fedtro, an
electronic products manufacturer
specializing in audio equipment. Fedtro,
which specialized in devices such as
megaphones, house alarms, car alarms,
intercom systems and
speakers, etc.,
issued a number of products with
Mickey’s face and testimonials.
This 1966 Fedtro catalog No.
SPT-66, features Mickey Mantle on both
sides of the cover, front & back, 15
out of the 20 pages. The catalog was
distributed to dealers across the
country, and is dedicated to "Sports
Communications," Fedtro's line of
Transistorized Megaphones. Mantle
demonstrates Fedtro megaphones
throughout the catalog. On the front
cover Mickey is using the MEG-1000,
Powerhouse Electronic Megaphone, and on
the back cover, the Powerhouse
Megaphone MEG.3300."
In the catalog there are
two pages of Mickey Mantle pointing to
a
Fedtro Dealer Display Sign. (one
the same but flipped) The catalog shows
how the Fedtro megaphone can be used in
a verity of sports; Track & Field,
football, basketball, tennis, golf,
life gauds, swimmers, ski buffs,
boating enthusiast, big leagues, little
leagues, and sandlot.
