Authored by Joseph Reichler,
this updated 1983 edition of "Baseball
Great Moments" was published by
Bonanza Books. The 288 page book, recounts over
eighty great moments in
baseball since World War II, with 175
photographs, including eight pages in
full color. The dust jacket cover
pictures St. Louis Cardinals catcher Darrell Porter,
who also closes out the book, on page
285, with a story about his "greatest
battle."
Beginning with the remarkable hitting
performance of Boston's Ted Williams in
the 1946 All-Star game, Baseball's
Great Moments offers more
than 80 exciting stories from the games
most successful era.
The text is filled with anecdotes and insights that capture the game's
eccentricities as well as it's heroics.
You will find not only accounts of
Feller, DiMaggio, Mazeroski, and
Clemente in their magical moments, but
also a marathon game, a 17-run inning,
and a 23-game losing streak.
