With the great success of Jack
Norworth and Albert Von Tilzer's 1908
song "Take
Me Out to the Ball Game," a number
of copycat baseball songs would soon
follow. Just day's after "Take Me Out
to the Ball Game," George M. Cohan’s
copycat song “Take Your Girl to the
Ball Game” was released. The following
year in 1909, Tin Pan Alley composer Al
W. Brown and C.P. McDonald, took a
swing at producing a similar hit with
"I Want to Go to the Ball Game". In
1911, William Farmer, and Jos. McCarthy
composed “I’ve Been Making a Grandstand
Play for You.” That same year "Come on
to the Baseball Game" was published. All songs having the
theme of taking your girl to the ball
game.
The title page features great cover
art by Brotts- Crews Studios;
illustrating Freddie McCann, the
character in the song taking his girl
Molly to the baseball game. Molly wants
to "spoon'neath" a big shady tree, but
Fred said "All right we'll do that
tonight, But honey please listen to me
"Come on, come on to the baseball
game." The song written by William A.
Downs, and Lou Sievers was published by
Harold Rossiter Music Company Chicago
Illinois. The company also published
the popular song of the day, "Let Me
Call You Sweetheart" ♪♪I'm in Love
with You♪♪ which is featured
on the back page.

"Come On to the
Baseball Game" - Lyrics
Words by William A. Downs Music by Lou Sievers, 1911

Little Freddie McCann was a
great baseball fan,
And he knew ev'ry play thru and thru.
When he called up sweet Molly, a nice little dolly,
One Sunday at half past two, She said
"Dear let us go to the park for a row,
and spoon'neath, a big shady tree"
Then Fred said "All right we'll do that tonight,
But honey please listen to me"
Come on, come on to the baseball game,
And shout for the old home team;
Up in the bleachers we'll sit with the screechers
and yell with the big crowd and scream Hur-rah!
Just dress up in your Sunday Clothes,
to show them you're some swell dame
We'll hoot and make a noise as we root for the boys
Come on to the baseball game - Come game.
Freddie said "Gee! its fun to sit out in the sun,
And yell when a man ties the score.
Then you stand up and hoot like a crazy galoot,
While the fans in the stands just roar"
"Molly I know the game, ev'ry player by name,
And my Dear, I'll explain ev'ry play.
Now honey, don't pout, come on, we'll go out,
Just listen to me when I say:"
Come on, come on to the baseball game,
And shout for the old home team;
