Mickey Mantle Comic Book

In March 1957 Mission Soda Of California signed Mickey Mantle as it's press agent during the winter months. Mantle promoted their Orange Soda in 1957 and 1958 through newspaper ads. The first, an "Opening Day" at Yankee Stadium newspaper ad, which featured a "FREE 16 page full color comic book with Mission Beverages." Illustrated with the comic named "My Greatest Thrills in Baseball" By Mickey Mantle, was a picture of Mantle that would be given away for 6 bottle caps, 5 moths later.

The comic book featuring stories of Mantle's early days as a Bronx Bomber was made available with a purchase of a six-pack of Mission Soda. The comic book starts off with a message from Mickey. There are tree short stories: (1) "The Day The Yankees Signed Me" (2) "The Tape Measure Hit" (3) “Chasing The Great Bambino.” The front cover artwork was done by Ruben Moreira, and the back page of the comic book features a full-page color advertisement with Mickey promoting “Mission of California.”
