Narrated
by Curt Gowdy, this 33⅓ RPM, Fleetwood
"World Series" LP record covers
highlights, stories and interviews from
the greatest moments in World Series
history. "It started with a simple
handshake-a gentleman's agreement-in
the summer of 1903. The destiny of one
sport greatest spectaculars was set
forth. The World Series was created."
The recording released in 1979 spans
the following 76 World Series and the
moments of glory that lives forever.
The front album cover pictures a baseball rising over the world. The back
pictures Curt Gowdy, and features lists
of World Series Records, and World
Series Results from 1903-1979.
"(American League has won 45 series,
National League has won 30 Series)"
Only three of the baseball series
of sports albums were released after
this "World Series" 1979 recording.
Fleetwood followed with;
"YAZ-3000" in 1979, "The
Phantastic Phillies," and
"Kansas City Royals – The Crowning
Episode" in 1980. ESPN, the networks, and
the leagues,
wanted to capitalize on releasing
highlights of sports, Fleetwood was no
longer allowed to make highlight
albums, and lost the rights to it.
