NOTES:

"Who's on First?" is a comedy routine made famous by American comedy duo Abbott and Costello, during the 1930's and 40's. On May 4, 1943, Lou Costello's 11 month old son Lou Jr., died from accidental drowning in the family pool. The Who's on First? routine was recorded by the two comedians and the royalties from the sale of records was turned over to the Lou Costello Jr., Youth Foundation for Underprivileged Children, which the partners were co-founders.

Baseball Commissioner Happy Chandler had requested that a special recording be played at all Major League opening games to start the 1947 season. The special recording carries a 30 second plug from Lou Costello asking the public to buy the records for the good of the foundation. On May 3, 1947, with the help from Abbott & Costello, the Lou Costello Jr. Youth Foundation in East Los Angeles was opened.

The 78 RPM record picturing Bud Abbott and Lou Costello on the label with facsimile signatures below; was produced and distributed by Enterprise Records, Inc., Hollywood California. Part A of "Who's On First?" by Abbott & Costello, begins with a few bars of "Take Me Out To The Ball Game". A rare version with the label that reads "Part A - Special," begins with the Special message from Lou Costello. Part B is the recording without the special message from Lou Costello.

In 1948 Castle records Issued a copy with the same picture label printed in blue ink. In 1956 RCA Victor released a 78-rpm recording of Who's On First? routine; specially produced for the Baseball Hall of Fame, as noted by the printing on the label.
