Record, was produced in
1955 by Bud Greenspan and James
Hammerstein at Columbia Records
exclusively for the Gillette Razor
Company. This record contains excerpts
from the complete 12 inch album, which
was available at "your Columbia
dealer," for $5.95. The premium 7 inch
except record was made available
combined with a Gillette razor for
$1.00 "at a store near you." The 7" EP
was also made available for $4.98 in
the retail market.
The record features voices and sounds of the great events, and sports
personalities from 1920 to 1954, which
includes: Babe Ruth - Reveals baseball
ambitions...talks to hospitalized
children...announces retirement from
baseball...bids dramatic farewell. Lou
Gehrig - Courageous "lucky guy"
statement on Lou Gehrig Day at Yankee
Stadium July 4th, 1939. Johnny Vander
Meer - describes the "Shakes" after
pitching two successive no-hit, no-run
games in 1938. Others featured on this record are the
voices of; Connie Mack, Carl Hubbell,
Mel Allen, Knute Rockne, Jesse Owens,
