NOTES:

Established in 1958, Fleetwood began recording Sports Albums in 1966. The first "Havlicek Stole The Ball" featuring highlights of the Boston Celtic Championship Play-offs from 1956 to 1966. Later that year Fleetwood Records issued "Impossible Dream," a recording that was originally a radio special put together by radio station WHDH and highlighted the Red Sox incredible season of 1967. The sports albums were released until 1980, when ESPN, the networks, and leagues, wanted to capitalize on releasing highlights of sports. Fleetwood was no longer allowed to make highlight albums, and lost the rights to it.

The "Great Sports Moments of the century" LP record album, was put together by Fleetwood Records for a 1976 Schlitz Beer promotion. The 90 minute excursion across the peaks of 20th century sports, is narrated by Curt Gowdy, and was presented by Schlitz at the special price of $4.95. The recoding was also offered on cassette, or 8 track tapes for $5.95 each.

Baseball related excerpts includes; Lou Gehrig Day in 1939, Bobby Thompson's Shot Heard around the world in 1951, "The Catch" by Willie Mays in the 1954 World Series, Don Larsen's Perfect game in the 1956 World Series, Hank Aarons, 714th and 715th home home runs, rare interviews with Babe Ruth, Cy Young, Ty Cobb Honus Wagner, and others. Even Abbot and Costello's "Who's on First" routine made the cut.

The cover art done by Fleetwood's cover designer Dick Hamilton depicts number 7, Mickey Mantle swinging for the fences. The album also covers Mickey Mantle's 565 foot home run blast, that was hit out of Washington's Griffith Stadium on April 17, 1953. The inside bi-fold cover features a side A, and B, Index with illustrations. Fleetwood also issued a 2 LP record set on their own without the Schlitz name, catalog number FMS-1018.
