NOTES:

This Two record set released by RCA Victor in 1947,  "How To Play Baseball' is narrated by American actor and comedian Joe E. Brown. On the record Joe E. who narrates as himself, instructs a young boy named Elmer (Cornelius Peeples) on how to play baseball, as they watch a game in progress. Side 1-Pitching, side 2-Fielding, side 3-Running, and side 4-Hitting. The four page album cover pictures Joe E. Brown in a New York Yankees uniform. Inside features an instructional illustrated technique guide.

Brown, a good ballplayer in his own right, played with the Avondales, the Thads, and Culey's All-Stars, plus about seventeen games with the Boston Red Sox. He played on many Toledo amateur baseball teams as a teenager, and had a brief semiprofessional stint with Needham's All-Stars until a broken leg slowed his sports career. Offered a contract with the New York Yankees, he declined in deference to his budding career in show business.

Joe E., had a nice collection of baseball memorabilia as well. Tris Speaker gave Joe E Brown his Red Sox victory medal from the 1912 World Series, a memento that Brown always carried in his pocket. Speaker also gifted Brown with the spikes he wore when the Indians won the 1920 World Series. Other pieces of baseball memorabilia in his collection included; baseball bats that Babe Ruth used in his 60-home run 1927 season and during his two three-home run World Series games, an autographed ball that Grover Cleveland Alexander used to shut down the Yankees in Game 7 of the 1926 Series, Dizzy Dean’s 1934 Game 7–winning World Series uniform; and Lou Gehrig’s last glove.
