In 1949, Brooklyn Dodgers greats Jackie
Robinson, and Pee Wee Reese joined
narrator Carl Frank and a supporting
cast to record a story that emphasizes
sacrificing personal glory for the
greater good of a baseball team.
Written by Peter Lyon, and Peter
Steele, the story starts off when
Robinson and Reese come across a
sandlot team of youngsters facing a
crucial moment in their season. Robinson and Reese give the
kids advise on the value of team play
as opposed to grandstanding.
Columbia Records released the story on this 78 RPM two record set. An
abbreviated 45 RPM version was also
issued. Each side of the 10 inch
"Unbreakable" records feature a
baseball theme illustration. The inside
of the bi-fold album pictures Robinson
and Reese, along with the summary of
the story and a short
Brooklyn Dodger
career bio. Other
Children's records are advertised on
the back cover.
