Keith
Morris Joined Sports Illustrated from
the magazine's founding year in 1954;
and helped organize SI's Speakers
Bureau, which set up appearances and
speaking engagements for sports
figures. He arranged and recorded up
and coming athletes until he retired in
1986. By 1979 his interviews with
athletes were carried weekly by more
than 300 radio stations, the TV
versions by more than 200 channels.
Reel to Reel tapes were produced
featuring sports greats of the day,
with the likes of; Muhammad Ali, Willis
Reed, Bart Starr, Bobby Orr, Roberto
Clemente, Brooks Robinson, Harmon
Killebrew, and more.
The
four inch, 7 1/2 IPS reel to reel
audio tapes were duplicated by Cue
recording Inc., located at 117 west 46th street New
York 36, N.Y. and were sent to
subscribing radio stations for on-air
play, then returned to the company or
destroyed. The recording was incased
in a box with a label titled; Keith
Morris Interviews, For Sports
Illustrated, For Immediate Release,
Track and Speed indications are listed.
The two athletes interviewed on this
recording are Roy White (New York
Yankees) 2:04 minutes long, and Orlando Cepeda (Atlanta Braves) 1:43 minutes,
and is dated at the bottom, 7/22/70.
