NOTES:

    A song written in 1908 by Jack Norworth and Albert Von Tilzer, "Take Me out to the Ball Game" became the official anthem of baseball. It is the third-most frequently heard song in America, behind the national anthem and Happy Birthday. Norworth who had never been to a ball game, wrote the lyrics when he passed the Polo Grounds on an elevated train and saw a sign that read “Baseball Today.”

 The very first version of "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" was sung by Harvey Hindermeyer, recorded on a standard record disc, with Columbia's "Client" label in 1908. Later that year, the famous baseball classic was recorded on an Edison "Gold Moulded" Cylinder Record. This rendition of "Take Me out to the Ball Game;" was performed by Edward Meeker.

 Harmony Records, Talking Machine Company, 618 S. Dearborn St., Chicago, Ill., released "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" by Harvey Hindermeyer, in 1911. Originally Great Northern Mfg. Co. of Chicago, from about 1907 to 1916, this was like other Chicago brands of the time having an oversized size spindle hole. Harmony was 3/4" in diameter and they also sold Harmony phonographs. The records could only be played on its own large-spindled phonographs. In 1909 American Graphophone Company (Columbia) took over production. Around 1911 Harmony dropped the Great Northern name and Harmony Talking Machine Co. was used afterwards.

  Katie Casey was base ball mad.
Had the fever and had it bad;
 Just to root for the home town crew,
 Ev'ry sou Katie blew.
 On a Saturday, her young beau
 Called to see if she'd like to go,
 To see a show but Miss Kate said,
 "No, I'll tell you what you can do."

"Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd.
Buy me some peanuts and cracker jack,
I don't care if I never get back,
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don't win it's a shame.
For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out,
At the old ball game."

Katie Casey saw all the games,
Knew the players by their first names;
Told the umpire he was wrong,
All along good and strong.
When the score was just two to two,
Katie Casey knew what to do,
Just to cheer up the boys she knew,
She made the gang sing this song:

"Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd.
Buy me some peanuts and cracker jack,
I don't care if I never get back,
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don't win it's a shame.
For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out,
At the old ball game."
