"The Umpire" Lyrics written by Leob
Sung by Phil Rizzuto, Tommy Henrich, Ralph Branca, Roy Campanella & Anne Lloyd
[chorus]
The Umpire the Umpire
The guy who calls every play
We ain't got no use for the Umpire
unless he calls it my way

[Anne Lloyd] "Hey Tommy"
[Tommy Henrich sings]
He calls one a strike that just misses my hat
and that's how I know that he's as blind as a bat

[Anne Lloyd] "Ralph"
[Ralph Branca sings]
I pitch them right over he gives him a walk
I scratch my right ear and he calls it a balk

[Anne Lloyd] "Phi"
[Phil Rizzuto sings]
I slide into second I'm safe without doubt
but up goes his thumb and the bum says you're out

[Anne Lloyd] "Roy"
[Roy Campanella sings]
I tell him his eyes are not all they should be
and next thing you know its the shower for me

[chorus]
The Umpire the Umpire
The guy who calls every play
We ain't got no use for the Umpire
unless he calls it my way

[Anne Lloyd] "Tommy"
[Tommy Henrich sings]
He calls one against us then changes his mind
and now our opponents use language unkind

[Anne Lloyd] "Ralph"
[Ralph Branca sings]
No matter which way he decides there's a fight
he's right when he's wrong, and wrong when he's right

[Anne Lloyd] "scooter"
[Phil Rizzuto sings]
I keep running bases in dreams every night
I run and I run in a terrible fright

[Anne Lloyd] "Campy"
[Roy Campanella sings]
A nightmarish creature is following me
A horrible monster who turns out to be

[chorus]
The Umpire the Umpire
The guy who calls every play
We ain't got no use for the Umpire
unless he calls it my way
