Released
on October 10, 2000, Terry Cashman
added to the list of versions of his
baseball classic "Talkin' Baseball" with
this 2000 Subway Series CD album. The
CD features songs about the golden age
of New York Baseball; when the Brooklyn
Dodgers, New York Yankees, and Giants
frequently battled for the World Series
championship, playing only a train ride
away. New York hosted the World Series
16 out of 18 years Between 1947 and
1964, with the Yankees playing the
Dodgers, and Giants 5 times in 6 years
between 1951 and 1956.
The first and only meeting between the
New York Yankees and Mets in the Fall
Classic took place in 2000. Terry
Cashman celebrated the two team's
championship seasons with separate
versions of "Talkin' baseball."
"The Song Of October" release in 1991 as a single was also added to the
track mix. And, so was the song that
started it all in 1981, the classic
Talkin' Baseball (Willie, Mickey &
"The Duke") The CD and cover
pictures the same classic photo used on
the original record release, with
Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, & "The Duke"
Duke Snider, walking in from centerfield but, with the
three merged closer together. The
original photo taken at an Old Timer's
Day celebration on July 16, 1977,
included Joe DiMaggio, who was edited
out of the picture for the album .
