Nasty Nestor
Cortes was honored with a giveaway. The
Nestor Cortes bobblehead, which also features a
bobbleleg, pays tribute to his wide
array of motions on the mound. The
first 2,500 fans at the RailRiders' PNC
Field received the Cortes bobblehead,
presented by the teams local sponsor
FOX 56 News.
The bobblehead with Cortes wearing an SBW pinstripe, Scranton Wilkes-Barre
RailRiders home jersey, features a "bobbleleg"
and is mounted on a "Fox 56 News
First At Ten" base. Next to Nestor, is
"Bronxie The Turtle."
In 2021 Nestor Cortes adopted a small pet turtle, as a good luck charm.
Bronxie, the Yankee clubhouse dweller
was brought in before the Bronx Bombers
swept the Rangers at Yankee Stadium on
September 20th. Bronxie also made the
trip to Boston, for the next series,
where the Yankees swept the Red Sox at
Fenway Park. After the Yankees late
season surge in 2021, Bronxie was
relocated to the New Settlement
community center in the Bronx, in 2022.
