On May 1, 2002, the Yankees honored
Frank Sinatra with, 'Sinatra New York
Memories day.'
Sponsored by
Anheuser-Busch-Budweiser, the Yankees gave away
this 'New York Memories' CD to the first
18,000 fans, 21 and older. Sinatra's
Daughter Nancy was on hand and threw
out the ceremonial first pitch. (I'm
sure she threw a ball, because her
boots were made for walking) Nancy
Sinatra stated, "My father loved New
York, he loved baseball... Two passions
in one memorial CD... He would be
thrilled." Sinatra's grand daughter
A.J. Lambert, sang the national anthem.
The New York Memories compilation CD features four all-time Sinatra tunes:
Summer Wind, The Best Is Yet To Come,
Fly Me To The Moon, and New York New
York. Mixed in throughout the CD is
John Sterling and Michael Kay, with
play-by-play action.
Bob Shepard opens and closes the
tracklist, which includes; 1998 David Wells
perfect-game, Shane Spencer the Home
Run Dispenser, 1996 World Champions-
The Beginning of a Dynasty, Champions
of New York-2000 World Champions, and
ends with Frank Sinatra's New York New
York.
