I have been interested in
baseball and military history since
I was a kid. Bringing the two
interests together has opened my
eyes to the service and sacrifice
of so many ball players who traded
their flannels for the uniform of
their country. On display in this
showcase is just a fraction of the
decade's-worth of acquiring
artifacts. This is truly a niche
area of collecting both baseball
and military history and the
convergeance of the two disciplines
requiring an inordinate amount of
research and verification. Unlike
the professional game, there was
comparatively small numbers (of
uniforms, bats, balls, gloves,
etc.) produced and even fewer items
survived.
