Ralph S. Bell a survivor of Nazi
concentration camps, including
Auschwitz, immigrated to the U.S.,
after WWII. In 1947 he met up with 2
other survivors, and they established
the Trio Sporting Goods MFG Co., in
Chicago. The company also had a
business relationship with Hillcrest
Sporting Goods that operated from 1962
to 1981.

Atlanta based firm, A-L Sports acquired
Trio Sporting Goods MFG Co.
The Trio Sporting Goods MFG Co. baseball bats were made by Hillerich &
Bradsby Co., Louisville Slugger and
featured at least 5 different center brands from
about 1947 to 1981. Due to the lack of
catalog information the
dating of these bats is
approximate.
The earliest circa 1950s bat feature a Trio script logo with Manufacturing
Co. in uppercase block lettering below.
There is also another redesigned Trio
scrip logo by itself. Models include;
Number 100, and 190 Regulation, Number
00 Pro League. The redesigned script
logo includes; Midget League, and
Regulation.
The Trio Hollander Triangle logo with the model number below "Trio" and
"Chicago" to the left, "New York" to
the right, with "Made In U.S.A." at the
bottom, dates to about the early 1960s.
Models include; 30-01 Pro League.
The Trio Hollander "Winged Triangle"
logo, dates to about the 1960s to 1972,
which includes the 39-07 Big Leaguer
models with block letter endorsements
that includes; Jackie Robinson, Ernie
Banks, Frank Robinson, Nelson Fox,
Eddie Mathews, Dick McAuliffe, Roberto
Clemente, Pete Rose, Carl Yastrzemski, and the 40-14 Henry
Aaron Little League, 39-01 Pro League,
40-02 Little League (other models
listed in 1972 catalog ad below)
The last center bran'd used dates to about 1973-1981, when in 1972, the
Atlanta based firm, A-L Sports acquired
Trio Sporting Goods MFG Co., and
removed "Hollander, Chicago, New York
and Made In U.S.A." from the Logo. The
new "Winged Triangle" logo featured 3
Interlocking rings at the top, model
number centered, with "Trio" at the
bottom. Models includes; 39-01 Pro
League, 40-08 Little League Thurman
