Ed Maynard Inc. of Plymouth New
Hampshire was a company started up in
1932, by John Edward Maynard, son of
John Fernando Maynard, co-founder of
the
Draper and Maynard Sporting Goods
Co. Ed Maynard's Sporting Goods
company, was a manufacturer of outdoor
clothing, and of sports equipment that
included tennis rackets, Skis,
uniforms, baseball bats and gloves. Ed
Maynard Inc. filed for bankruptcy in
1941.
The few baseball glove models
that were produced during the short time
the company was in business include;
the "Professional Model" No. F50,
tunnel loop web fielders glove, which
was one of the earliest glove made by
Maynard (illustrated in the 1933
circular below). The G8 Fielders glove
with a grommet web, and this "All
Star" No. F34 fielders glove with a
double tunnel web, and a buckle back
strap wrist adjustment. The back
of the pinky finger reads "Maynard Made
in Plymouth, N.H." Other gloves feature
a
"Ed Maynard Made" button back wrist
strap. Ed Maynard Inc. also made
private branded baseball gloves for B&B
Sporting goods of Boston.
