The Geo. Worthington Co.
was a wholesale Hardware company
located in Cleveland, Ohio. It was
started by a 16 year old George
Worthington in 1829. The advent of the
railroad and the Civil War stimulated
the company's growth. By 1870 the firm
began issuing yearly catalogs as sales
reached $1.5 million, and incorporated
in 1887. From 1986-88 the company
reorganized under Chapter 11 of the
U.S. bankruptcy law, and in 1991 the
company ceased to exist, after 162
years in business
The earliest logo (1930s-1940s) used on George Worthington Company
baseball gloves was the trademark "GW
CO." Endorsed models include;
