1970's Johnny Bench Rawlings RCM30
Catchers Mitt The manufacturer glove
design features for this "Professional
Model" include "Lite Toe" "Deep Well
Pocket" and a "Hinged Pad" which is
located at the heel of the palm that
provides more flexibility. It allows
the glove to be opened and closed
easily. This "Fastback" Model
features a Holdster finger slot.
The RCM30 catchers Mitts from the
1960's has the model number on the heel
of the glove and does not have the "Fastback"
feature.
The Fastback
model, patented in 1969, was a new and
unique baseball glove construction in
which an outer shell and a lining shell
are formed and fitted to produce a more
readily controlled glove and to provide
a smooth surface in the ball-catching
pocket that retains its shape free of
lumps and ridges.
