NOTES:

The Mickey Mantle Personal Model Rawlings XFB19 first baseman's mitt was the "new Fastback model for 1969." The Mitt features the Rawlings 1967 patented "Basket Web" with a spiral laced bridge at the top. The "Basket Web" is a full web, that is made of weaved leather laced to the thumb, crotch and forefinger. Designed to absorb substantial impact energy from catching a ball, it also grips the ball preventing it from wedging into the backstop.

The Basket Web, another innovation by Rawlings glove designer Roland N. Latin, will become more common in the following two decades. The 1969 "Patent applied for" Fastback design featuring the "Holdster" finger slot on the back was  granted in 1971, and was designed to slip your index finger through to the outside of the glove, to provide greater control and added cushion.
