The Richie
Ashburn MacGregor GB29 Autograph Model,
3 finger, fielders glove, was issued
sometime around 1954-1957. The GB29 was
also available with Frank Baumholtz,
and George Strickland endorsements.
Both are very rare. In 1952 the company
name, MacGregor Goldsmith, was changed
to MacGregor. The GB29 was first issued
in 1952-1953 without an endorsement and
was named the "Big Leaguer."
The GB29 3 finger baseball glove came with a
large one piece stitched triple tunnel
web, AKA "Barrel Web," laced to the
crotch. The back of the thumb
reads "LICENSED UNDER, PAT. NO.
2231204" which is a Streamline Finger
patent, grated to Wilson Sporting Goods
in 1941. It was to make the fingers more
rigid, and to help prevent the fingers
from bending.
