Circa 1940's Ripon ambidextrous
baseball glove catalog number 42. Ripon
manufacture markings include "Big
League" "Greased Set Pocket" and
"Genuine Cowhide". The glove was
advertised for use with both softball,
and hardballs. First patented in 1911,
ambidextrous baseball gloves, were made
to be used on either the left or right
hand. The early ambidextrous gloves
sold by Reach & Spalding around 1915,
featured sewn in webs between the
fingers In general ambidextrous
baseball gloves are rare, and could
sell in the $500.-$1,000. price range
in Very Good - Excellent condition, and
about $1,500.-$2,000. in Near Mint
condition.
