Wilson 556 Professional Model

The Wilson No. 556 Professional model baseman's mitt was an extra large model especially designed for professional first basemen. The oil treated first base mitt was replace with Grease set pockets in 1937. They featured a new style panel back; hand made all felt "ready broke" pad with deep natural ball pocket; roll style leather binding, laced at edge and wrist with large metal eyelets and heavy leather lace; large set-in glove style thumb with special lacing feature, adjustable loop thumb lace. Wilson pateted "Buckless" adjustable wrist strap.

In 1937 the No. 556 was redesigned for the WM. H "Bill" Terry De Luxe model Baseman's mitt. Built on an entirely new pattern under the personal supervision of Bill Terry according to his own specifications. Exceptionally small in size, all the unnecessary padding and leather had been eliminated over the fingers making the mitt conform more nearly to the shape of the hand to help in stopping hard ground balls. A T-web replace the lace web, and had a Buckle fastener on the back.
